Benefits of membership
By joining the NCMD you get a lot more for your £8 a year than just basic insurance cover, there is a huge range of extra benefits which come with your membership.
- Families detect together – whether it is sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, or grandchildren. If you are a parent or guardian, you can add up to three 10–16-year-olds for free to your policy at any time.
- Protection when you attend commercial rallies/events, private & group digs.
- Committee Member Cover – if you sit on the committee of an NCMD registered detecting club, you are covered for any club activities you organise.
- Free Carer protection - For those members that need it, we have extended our insurance to cover a carer to assist you whilst detecting.
- You get a digital membership card and two physical cards – One for your wallet/purse and a key fob card to keep with your keys or you could tie it to your metal detector, so you always have one with you. Alternatively you can also opt for a Digital Card only.
- Public liability insurance up to £10,000,000 – With £0 excess
- Cover whilst detecting on trips to Europe - great for holidays. May be extended Worldwide - see T&Cs.
- Free NCMD App – great for recording your finds, chatting to other members through the online community forum and accessing your digital membership card.
- Access resources through our Major Finds Excavation Fund to help cover the cost of excavating any hoards or significant finds, by a qualified archaeologist. (Currently only available in England & Wales because the Scottish Treasure Trove Unit have their own funds in place to cover this)
- Get the NCMD Digging Deep Newsletter.
- Non UK residents are welcome to join and have same benefits. (You get a digital card only and insurance cover for detecting on trips to UK of up to 7 days)
- Monthly Finds Competitions as well as a yearly Christmas Draw where we give out a range of prizes totalling £10,000.
- Access to the NCMD Merchandise shop.
