The recent press launch of the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) 2022 Annual Report was a great success. Hosted by Sir Mark Jones the new Head of the British Museum, there was a strong turnout. Including members of the Portable Antiquities Advisory Group, which includes the NCMD represented by Alan Tamblyn, Dave Crisp and David Millington.
Alan was speaking with Sir Mark, and he was asked to pass his thanks onto our members for the significant contribution made to our national heritage.
Also present were some of the finders themselves, including Jonathan Needham who found a 3,000 year old gold dress fastener. Roy Myall who found a hoard of 26 extremely rare Savernake Wreath Staters (ABC 2089) of the East Wiltshire Tribe. Caroline Nunnelly find of rosary bead of memento mori (remember that you die) dated possibly to 1450. They all proved to be a great hit.
