Important Announcement – Treasure Valuation Committee

We are very proud to announce that the NCMD Communications Officer, Dave Crisp has been appointed as the detectorists representative on the Treasure Valuation Committee (TVC).

The Treasure Valuation Committee (TVC) plays a vital role in advising the Secretary of State of Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) on valuing treasure finds. It is an independent committee comprising of delegates from various heritage bodies, the trade, as well as someone representing the metal detectorist.

About Dave

Dave has been on the committee of the Trowbridge & District Metal Detecting Club for over 30 years. He is also the finder of the largest single hoard of Roman coins ever found in the UK, and until last year, was one of the main organisers of the RCM detecting events, that have raised huge amounts for cancer care charities. He is also a major contributor to the PAS database, having been a keen supporter of the scheme since its launch in 1997.

Dave has been involved in every aspect of metal detecting for over 36 years and is a great ambassador for the hobby. He works tirelessly as Communications Officer for the NCMD, representing our hobby at government level.

I’m very proud to say that Dave has also been a friend of mine for the past 26 years, and I know him as a man of immense knowledge, passionate about our hobby, passionate about recording our finds but above all, he is a man of integrity, I can’t think of anyone better placed to represent us.

“On behalf of myself, the Committee and Trustees of the NCMD, our 41,000 members and indeed, the hobby as a whole, our huge and heartfelt congratulations Dave, no one deserves it more than you.”
